Catherine is a Montreal native who moved to the idyllic beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica in 2014 to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. She’s a highly active individual who loves sports, training and healthy living. She began her career in fitness 15 years ago as a personal trainer and holds a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology.
She’s always had a love for surfing, whether it be on the cold rivers of Canada or out on the warm water while away on vacations. Once in Costa Rica, it became a daily passion along with her ever expanding fitness regime. It was these two passions that sparked the idea for BFit Retreat, so that she could share her love of surf and fitness with others.

Rafa was born and raised in Costa Rica. Originally from San José, he moved to Tamarindo 14 years ago to be closer to the waves. Since his move, his life has revolved around surfing.
Not only is he an avid surfer, but he loves to share his sport and the “Tico” (Costa Rican) lifestyle with everyone he meets. His confidence in the water is contagious and will have even the most novice surfer feeling relaxed and confident as they shred the waves.
Along with his passion for surfing and surf instructing, Rafa is also an avid surf photographer and videographer. His work can be seen here on our site as well as on his website RafaSand.com
